Hydatid disease is a parasitic cystic disease of the liver commonly caused by a variety of tapeworm with a dog as a intermediary host. Usually handling domestic dogs can give rise to this condition. This is common in the Indian subcontinent and neighbouring countries. Hydatids can very well be removed by a laproscope.
This morning i removed one from the liver and two from the lung through a thorascope.
Albendazole needs to be given for 6 months post surgery

Thanks a lot for the information. Can they be removed by a laproscope procedure, regardless of their size? How long does it take to treat these clients with Mebendazole?
