Autism

My friend's child is 6 years old. He does not interact with his friends. He keeps to himself and is a poor performer at school. He does not take interest in any sports and does not even watch television. Could this be autism?

Not being interested in other people is one of the characteristics of autistic people. But your friend's son needs to have a full evaluation done by a physician to diagnose it. Sometimes physical problems (for example, defective hearing) can cause difficulty getting along with others and poor academic performance.
