Dengue / Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever / Dengue Shock Syndrome

Dengue and dengue hemorrhagic fever are illness caused by a viral infection that spreads through the bite of the Aedes mosquito. The main symptoms are fever, headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain and rash. Sometimes there may be bloody diarrhea or vomiting, and bleeding from mucous membranes and the gums.

Sonography

sonography is a very good diagnostic modality to differentiate and determine the severity at an early stage the cause of fever due to dengue or typhoid, which has clinicopathological similar findings in early stage.

Yes,early detection of plasma leakage,particularly in pleural and peritoneal cavities is facilitated by USG/E,if the patient is deteriorating,passing less urine,is getting irritable or there are any changes in mentation,if the BP is falling down,or there is reduced pulse pressure,if there is tender liver enlargement,go immediately for USG/E. It may impact on survival.

even if pt doesn have all this symtoms .. but only fever ... USG would guide you through diagnosis.
