I am v pleased to see this article. Its about time some one stood up for chronic pain sufferers. The way these people are made to feel by some chemists when asking for painkillers is criminal. How dare these people with personal agendas and ignorant views stand in judgement? If they had to endure daily non stop pain I'm sure they would be yelling. Painkillers enable people to keep productive and help save gov money. And if the condition is incurable but lasting what on earth does it matter if the painkillers need to be taken daily. Taken as per directions these drugs are v safe. I should know I've suffered for 30 years from incurable chronic pain and have NO ill effects from the medication. And as to this latest craze for "pain management"! Well, just HOW DO YOU MANAGE PAIN? HMMM? It should be called 'pain endurance'. Just give these people a break and stop hassling when they ask for meds to let them get on with their daily working lives.

Just make the purchase of phen barb legal. Those who wish to choose their own exit time will do so in their own manner. Happy. Chronic pain murders the mind. The body is only a shell. By sentencing so many to a living hell on the basis of a primitive religious societal model is a far worse crime that is conscionable in the 21st century. All analgesics should be legal, available and without stigma to sufferers of chronic pain. When the pain stops you can CHOOSE whether to become a 'productive' member of society. Or opt out, permanently.

I'm a chronic back pain sufferer and have just had my third operation in Feb a spinal fusion. I have lived in Chronic Pain for 13 years, i go to sleep in it, when i can sleep, i wake up in it and it never stops. Sadly i am classed as Opiate Addicted and struggle to function. I have contemplated suicide a few times but thats the cowards way out. The main thing is i find to try to manage my pain. So for all you Chronic Pain Sufferers out there i know how you feel and can sympathise with you. If you feel suicidal please seek help. I find it is a revolving door but life is what we make of it. Chin up. Sincerely Ken

I have been suffering chronic pain for over 30 years, from injuries to a number of body parts and severe phantom pain, and have thought of suicide many times. Pain killers work sometimes to a point. Meditation helps until the pain overcomes the meditation. Friends and relatives get sick of it, making it harder to put up with. I think I have tried about everything ans I don't think "it is something you learn to live with".

I have horrible pain in my ankle from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed. And even then I am in pain. My bf thinks I should just deal with it. I have been trying to. I broke my ankle about four years ago. I did a lot of damage to the ankle along with the bone that I broke. I have a non union fracture, no cartilige, torn tendons, and so much more. The doctor says I will need ankle replacement surgery and that probably wont take care of all of the pain. I am on nothing for the pain. I just live daily wishing to God that when I go to bed I do not wake up again to be in more pain. I just dunno what to do anymore.
