My son is suffering from Duchennes muscular dystrophy. He is 11 years old & lost mobility of his lower limbs. Mobility of upperlimbs has also become restricted. I have give hi stem cell therapy at AIIMS, ND. He has been injected with stem cells collected from himself 4 times. It did not give any long term result. He is being given physiotherapy everyday. Has any treatment come to India like gene replacement/repair theapy. Is there any other mode of treatment?

I m really sorry to say that as far aa i know there is no further development and treatment available in india for your son.i hope things change in the very future. i think you might be more informed about the same than me , but let me give you some links which are latest guidelines about DMD.1)http://quest.mda.org/files/pdfs/Part_Two-newDMD.pdf

hope it is of some use to you.I think research centres like AIIMS will only get information on new trestments or trials for DMD like diseases. So please keep in touch your sons doctor there to know more.only information i can share is that Antisenseoligonucleotidetherapies are in the pipeline for DMD, but may take a while to reach our country.
