Laparoscopic repair for paraumbilical or umbilical hernia has a very recurrence rate. It sounds a tempting option for patients. but the problem with this method is the failure of the system used to fix the mesh from within. Invariably due to high forces acting on the anterior abdominal wall , these fixation devices become loose and fall off, giving rise to  a recurrence.
