There is no permanent cure for pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). The prognosis for PAH is not good. Medical treatment cannot cure the disease permanently but can lessen the symptoms and improve the quality of life. PAH may develop slowly. The disease can often go undiagnosed for several years because it has no early symptoms. When symptoms develop they are often like other heart and lung conditions, like asthma.
