Common Cold

This is a viral infection of the upper respiratory tract accompanied by sneezing, coughing, a sore throat and runny nose, and sometimes muscle aches, tiredness, headaches, shivering and loss of appetite. Most colds are mild and last less than a week, and there are no approved antiviral medicines for the condition. But there are several drugs for treating the symptoms.

This online group on the common cold will help you meet professionals and lay people who are interested in the latest research on this illness.

Constantly sick

I just had a few quick questions. For the last three years or so, I have been getting sick every one and a half to two months. Symptoms are always the same, runny nose, mild fever, stuffy head, fatigue, like a cold, and they go away in about a week or so. Is it possible to get sick that many times in a year? Why is my immune system not fighting any of it off? Is there something more serious going on? I am not overly stressed or sleep deprived.   Any help you can give me would be much appreciated.

Hi,
Repeated upper respiratory infections that U R getting may be due to suboptimal health; but more likely to be due to allergy to some thing in your environment - like dust, flowers, some food items. It may be result of long standing persistent infection in your sinuses. You should have a thorough tests by an ENT surgeon and maybe a General Physician and possibly get some allergy tests done. Also some blood tests will also be helpful. Once U find the cause, it can be treated. BE SURE , most probably there is nothing serious. But DO SEE AN EXPERT.
Best wishes,
