Primary Amenorrhea

Primary amenorrhea is a condition when a girl has not started menstruating by the time she is 16, even though other signs of puberty, like breast development and the appearance of pubic hair, are normal. Besides hormonal abnormalities and other illnesses, low body weight or obesity, stress and rigorous exercise can cause primary amenorrhea.

coping with PA

Hi all,
what a relief to be in discussion with other women across the globe who also have this condition. :)
yes we were born with this condition and we have to find ways of trying to cope with it, whether we are able to conceive or not in our lifetime.
im 36 now and was diagnosed with it when i was 19 yrs. i remember being very upset for a few yrs however i soon found a way of tyring to cope with the test God had placed on me.
i have tried 2 attempts of conventional treatment to stimulate my ovaries in the past 6 yrs and they didnt work sufficiently (high FSH, low Oest, with a perfeclty dveloped uterus- what can i say?!). the reason it didnt work is known to God only! however im not giving up despite adopting a little girl 2yrs ago. i have recently started to take chinese herbal medicine to see if anything will arise naturally. i get scared when i think abt going through it all again, treatment can b a very emotional time esp when u may get a no at the end hwoever i woudl never put anyone off to go for it...
If u have a compassionate and understanding hubby and/or a supportive family - helps immensely.
i pray that if having my own birth child is a good thing for me and will NOT harm me or make me ill following conceiving, it happens; otherwise if i bcome chronically ill following giving birth then i wont b abl to look after my little princess we have adopted.
i feel i have gone through all the emotions and difficulties most of u have expressed and will share my experience with u soon.
bye for now

I completely agree with you on how stressful and emotional going through treatment can be.. I've been on various alternative treatments since I was 17 (I'm 24 now) and it never gets easier.. in fact I keep waiting to become indifferent or numb to it but instead it hits harder each time because it's like chalking up another failed attempt.
