Drug-Induced Birth Defects

Ever heard of the Thalidomide disaster? This refers to a certain medical blunder caused by the unrestrained prescription of the Thalidomide drug to pregnant women – and as a result, children born with seal like limbs. This, and other drug-induced fetal abnormalities happen due to the teratogenicity of certain drugs.

People do not want to hurt. Due to fears about being labeled a "junkie", people over dose on acetaminophen and ruin their liver. It's a sad indictment on our society that people would rather have liver failure than enter into a pain management program where opioids are used as part of pain control strategy.
