my great grandmother had senility, my grandmother as well, and now my mother has dementia and alzheimers. I am 56 and I have one sibling, a sister who is 50.
Our mother was in her early 70's when we noticed a change in her memory and personality. She is now 78 and has been admitted to the CCU ward of our local hospital while she waits for a bed at a personal care facility. I would say there is a definite genetic link in our family. My son has been diagnosed with aspergers disorder and my sister, with depression. My father was an alcoholic and my mother was always depressed and anxious.
